There are a lot of "deals" out there on plates. There are also a lot of variations on quality, and many of the people you can buy plates from have never dropped a bumper plate in their life let alone broken one. We are competitive weightlifters, and coach 40-50 young lifters on a daily basis, ranging from 6 and 7 year olds to men cleaning and jerking over 200 kilos. We have bought bumper plates before that didn't last a day, and we have bought plates that will last a lifetime. We know good plates, and what makes a good plate, and we know bad plates. We don't guarantee that our plate sets are the cheapest on the market per kilo or per pound, we do guarantee that they are the best VALUE, and are the cheapest when measured agains the actual USE you get out of them. The black rubber plates are extremely durable, pretty inexpensive, and probably easier on the floor or platform than any other plate. They are ideal for the garage lifter, or for the institution that values durability and usability over looks. The Olympia colored rubber plates are for those who are willing to pay a little extra for a really nice looking plate. We have had these around the gym since around 1999, and while we have had plate failures, we think they are pretty durable. Unfortunately, if you want a colored bumper that you can pass down to the grandkids, you have to step up to something like a Werksan, which is significantly more expensive. All our bumpers are warrantied for 1 year, but I have NEVER had a Hi-Temp plate fail and we have used them really hard for a long time. I have had an Olympia plate fail, but compared to other plates in the same price range I have been pleased with their durability. So expect the lifespan of your plates to be much longer than a year. Most of our plates ship out via Freight, and not UPS parcel service. This invalidates the tracking feature on the website.
